Part of the Le Parker Meridien Hotel and within walking distance of New York’s famous Carnegie Hall is the flashy French bistro Seppi’s. Taken over by French chef Claude Solliard, Seppi’s has a lived in look with walls cluttered with paintings and framed mirrors, tin ceilings and walls and a neon accented bar. Offering some of the best French food in the neighbourhood, Solliard’s menu is playful, with typical French classics interspersed with a taste of the Mediterranean such as lobster bisque bobs with pillowy crayfish ravioli or the homard sandwich with lobster meat, crunchy bacon and ripe tomato stuffed into a fat brioche. Solliard nails the classics too with a meltingly tender herb crusted rack of lamb, an indulgent steak au poivre with pommes frites or a fine carbonnade of beef with caramelised onions. The glorious excess carries on into dessert with a decadent raspberry sauce over hit chocolate cake or chocolate filled filo tart with caramelised bananas. Service is excellent and hospitality is warm. Hotel guests are lucky to have a restaurant this good at their fingertips, and the late night opening makes it a hotspot for hungry night owls.
